The Kids Are All Right

The 2010 comedy drama film centers on a lesbian couple, Jules (Julianne Moore) and Nic (Annette Bening). Each gave birth to a child using the same anonymous sperm donor. When the older child, Joni (Mia Wasikowska), turns eighteen, her brother Laser (Josh Hutcherson), asks her to contact the sperm bank in order to meet their biological father, Paul (Mark Ruffalo).
On January 25, 2010, the film premiered at the Sundance Film Festival becoming one of the event's breakout hits. In July, the film was released to universal acclaim. Rotten Tomatoes reports that 96% of critics have given the film a positive review based on 120 reviews. Among Rotten Tomatoes' "Top Critics", which consists of notable critics from the top newspapers and websites, the film holds an overall approval rating of 94%, based on a sample of 35 reviews. The site's consensus is that "Worthwhile as both a well-acted dramedy and as a smart, warm statement on family values, The Kids Are All Right is remarkable." |
